Cheryl A. Francis, LPC, CPCS, CGP (Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Professional Clinical Supervisor, Certified Grief Professional)
Welcome to The Heart Matters Wellness Services, LLC, where I purposefully personalize your healing from a strength-based perspective, deeply rooted in compassion and understanding.
I'm Cheryl A. Francis, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, and a Certified Grief Professional based in the Atlanta and West Georgia area. With advanced training from Argosy University (formerly Georgia School of Professional Psychology), I specialize in guiding individuals, professionals, and organizations through grief, burnout, and life transitions.
At Heart Matters Wellness, I recognize that grief is expressed from many life events, whether it's the death of a loved one, a major identity shift such as a divorce, infidelity, career transition, relocation, or the emotional toll of caregiving and professional burnout. That's why my work in trauma-informed grief counseling, burnout recovery, and leadership resilience training is tailored to your emotional and professional needs.
My therapeutic style is based on the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) perspective. However, I integrate evidence-based, holistic approaches to help you achieve your specific goals. Whether you're navigating anxiety, stress, loss, or emotional overwhelm, I aim to help you regain clarity, peace, and purpose while supporting your healing.
As a speaker, trainer, and published author, I provide organizations and individuals with practical tools to motivate and support them in achieving personal and professional wellness, enabling them to take control of their wellness journey. You may find me leading workshops, speaking at conferences, offering direct support, or writing, where the ultimate goal is to help individuals grow through their own experiences.
As the founder and director of Rebounding With A Purpose (RWAP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, I proudly extend affordable mental health services, housing assistance, and community resources to underserved populations across Georgia.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck in grief, or close to burnout, you don't have to carry it alone. I invite you to take these to my space so they can be shared and leave you feeling "lighter." Embark on a journey with me toward healing, balance, and renewed strength.
My treatment approach is designed to support grief recovery, burnout recovery, and emotional overwhelm with compassion and expertise. I take a holistic approach, supporting the whole person, mind, body, and spirit by integrating evidence-based therapy with holistic wellness strategies.
Whether you are navigating loss, experiencing the feeling of emotional drain from burnout, or struggling to cope with a significant life transition, you will find a safe, non-judgmental space here to heal, re-energize, and rediscover your inner strength.
Using a blend of tailored therapeutic techniques, I meet you where you are, sometimes literally, when feasible, to ensure our work together is as accessible and supportive as possible. Every treatment plan is customized to your specific goals, helping you manage stress, improve emotional resilience, and restore balance in your life.
From our very first session, we will assess whether I am the right fit for your needs. If not, I will gladly connect you with trusted referrals so you can continue your path toward wellness without delay.
Our professional development (PD) offers a variety of learning or training opportunities to help improve professional knowledge, competence, skill, and effectiveness. They are designed to provide active learning environments supporting participants to master specific learning objectives. Professional Development may include trainings, workshops, online courses, or information sessions for many professional disciplines. Our PD goal provides strategies that, when used, will have positive effect on outcomes. We set high standards of practice for our professional development efforts. Each service is designed to meet you or your organizational needs and is based on learning theories and best practices.
Anxiety is the number one mental health disorder in the United States. Many people experience anxiety, but because of a lack of knowledge, they go about their daily lives without seeking treatment or even self-medicating to find ease. Through counseling and therapy, we can help you recover motivation, perspective, and the joy you once experienced.
Many individuals experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, depression, and hopelessness can all be associated with trauma. These emotions can linger from post-traumatic events. We support you in walking beyond and overcoming these symptoms while guiding you through healing.
Grief and loss is not only about death and dying. It is also about the individual who was told after 20 years of marriage they are not loved anymore. It is also about that person who will no longer get to see friends and loved ones anymore due to a relocation. Grief does not have a timeline! After the loss, when the cards, flowers, and visits are no more, and you sit with yourself questioning and feeling the pain, call me to help you walk through the tangled web of emotions that are now flooding you. You do not have to go on the grief journey alone!
An unhealthy relationship impacts us at the CORE of our being. Understanding who we are and our role in these relationships can benefit and strengthen our emotional connection. This connection helps us communicate more effectively in all stages of our relationships. Therapy sessions are available to process issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationships.
